WINGS FOR AUTISM (OR INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES)nSaturday, January 13, 2018 3:00 – 5:30pm nBWI Thurgood Marshall AirportnThe Wings for Autism® program is designed as an opportunity to provide children and adults with autism or intellectual/developmental disabilities to have a practice opportunity to experience the sometimes challenging aspects of airline travel at an airport – parking and shuttling to the terminal, check-in, security, boarding the aircraft and interacting with airport personnel – to help ease potential stresses that the airport experience can cause. One child or adult with autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disabilities, and up to two family members or companions may attend (only one family member can board the plane). Arrive at airport at 3pm, a detailed schedule to follow for those who are registered. A photo ID is needed for any participant over age 18. Bring luggage to mimic the real experience.
