The Howard County Special Education Citizens AdvisoryCommittee (SECAC) is thrilled to announce the launch of the GladiatorRecognition Program, a monthly initiative celebrating the incredibleindividuals who make a positive impact on the lives of our Howard County studentswho receive special education and related services. We invite parents tonominate an individual for recognition at our upcoming SECAC meeting in June,marking the program’s kick-off. Who is a Special Education Gladiator? AGladiators can be anyone who interacts with students receiving specialeducation and related services and positively impacts their learning journey.This could be a:

Special Education Teacher

Special Education Paraprofessional

Therapist (OT, PT, Speech)

Counselor

Bus Driver

Cafeteria Staff

Custodian/Janitor

School Nurse/Health Assistant

Principal/Assistant Principal

Or anyone else who makes a difference!

The deadline to submit nominations for the June GladiatorRecognition Program is Monday, May 20th, 2024. This program will be arecurring event, recognizing outstanding individuals every month throughout thenext school year. Stay tuned for more details about future nominations! The JuneSECAC meeting is Tuesday, June 4, 2024, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Patuxent ValleyMiddle School. Students are welcome to attend the meeting with theirparents/caregivers, but there is no childcare available. We look forward tocelebrating our Special Education Gladiators with you!
