Presentedby Dr. Libby Kumin. Individuals with Down syndrome can have difficulty in theareas of speech and language. Professionals and families need to work togetherto facilitate early development. For families, this is a new experience thatrequires them to learn unfamiliar terminology, work with a variety ofprofessionals, and learn about their child’s communication strengths andchallenges and approaches that will provide effective communication in theearly years.
