What's Happening

SECAC Welcomes Dr. Kevin Gilbert - November 13th

HCPSS Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Dr. Kevin Gilbert, will talk about how special education fits into his office and answer questions from the SECAC community.  Use the link below to submit questions the meeting before November 8th.  Then during the meeting anyone unable to pre-submit questions will have an opportunity to submit them in writing during the meeting.

About us


Under law, Howard County Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee (SECAC) advises the school system on the needs of students with  disabilities. We collaborate with other community disability advocacy groups to improve special education and the lives of our students in Howard County, MD.

There are approximately 56,000 students in our district and 11% of them are students with special needs who have an IEP or 504.
