Parents and caregivers of students with disabilities face a range of challengesthat negatively impact their health, well-being and advocacy efforts. Theschool and service provider community can play a key role in addressing those challenges.This conversational hour will focus on practical strategies and best practicesfor improving systems of support for parents and caregivers. Panelists includeDr. Terri Savage, Executive Director of Special Education, HCPSS, ReneAveritt-Sanzone, Parents’ Place of Maryland and a parent of two grown daughterswho are deaf, Chris Mason-Hale, MCDD Community Advocate, Beth Benevides, AssociateDirector of Outreach Hussman Institute for Autism and a parent of a young adultwith a disability and Karen Duffy, Chief Program Officer for Maryland Coalitionof Families.
