SUPPORTED DECISION-MAKING nFriday, December 7, 2018 2:00-5:00 p.m.nHussman Institute for Autismn5521 Research Park Drive nCatonsville, MD 21228 nDisability Rights Maryland (DRM) invites people with disabilities, their supporters, providers, and others to meet and discuss supported decision-making (SDM). SDM is a process by which people with disabilities pick others who they know and trust to assist them in making, communicating, and effectuating decisions. It is gaining traction as a legal alternative to guardianship across the country and around the world. Whereas under guardianship, guardians make decisions for a person, under supported decision-making agreements the person retains the ability to make decisions for themselves with support. Legislation to establish SDM in Maryland will be discussed. Learn more about supported decision-making and how it may work for you, and provide input on what you see as important in a supported decision-making law. Please RSVP to Megan Rusciano, DRM Attorney nMeganR@DisabilityRightsMD.org (preferred) or (443) 692-2487
