PATHWAYS COLLEGE PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS WITH AUTISMnThursday, October 24, 2019 7:00-9:00nNonProfit Collaborative of Howard County n9770 Patuxent Woods Drive nColumbia, MD nWhitney Gray and Janine Ross from DORS Pathways Program will discuss supports available to students with autism at Howard Community College, CCBC, AACC, and Montgomery College. Pathways is for students who meet the academic requirements to attend community college, but need supports in the areas of organization, self-advocacy, interpersonal relationships, communication and time management. Support services are provided on campus through one-on-one and small group sessions. Students with autism must be eligible for DORS services, eligible for a college plan, (proved through a high school or college) have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, have college recommended through a comprehensive career assessment, Accuplacer scores, and registered with Disability support services at the college. If the student does not meet the above academic criteria, the field counselor may allow the student to complete a trial semester to prove they are able to complete college course work. This presentation is part of the Transition Parent to Parent series which is sponsored by the Howard County Autism Society and the HCPSS Family Support & Resource Center.
