DeborahCrawford, MS, CCC-SLP, will discuss how children with autism spectrumdisorders (ASD) learn language and dive into the reasoning behind their usageof echolalia. Research has shown that echolalia is a purposeful function ofcommunication. Strategies for teaching and expanding the language of childrenwith ASD while exploring self-generated language will be provided.
